The Story about Wendy Hawkins
Wendy was a regular at Lane Cara Shaw’s drop-in classes, and took a class or two from me as well. She was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis as a baby, requiring her to have numerous surgeries through the years. Her body caused her so much pain and suffering. She found mandala work to be soothing and satisfying.
In Lane Cara’s group Wendy learned and she facilitated learning. She taught various mandala classes to arthritis groups and eventually self-published a book about her story with mandalas. She took an early retirement as a computer programmer and teaches classes in the Phoenix area. Her website is: www.moonlightmandalas.com . Her book is available at www.lulu.com/spotlight/mandala144. Wendy’s mandalas are presented full-color with powerful stories about them. It is a beautiful, inspiring and well-written book.
Wendy said, “I told Lane Cara that if I had never met her and experienced her mandala classes, I would not have this gift to share with others. She, of course, then said if she had never met you and learned mandalas from you, then her classes never would have been. Isn’t it marvelous and powerful how we are all connected through this chain of teachings? ! I feel so blessed to be able to learn from you both. These mandalas have altered my life forever. They have healed me in so many ways. I love the idea of passing on the knowledge to others to continue the chain!”
